Welcome to the Collaborative Research Group 852
The scientific aim of the Collaborative Research Group (SFB) 852 “Nutrition and intestinal microbiota - host interactions in the pig” is to understand how nutritional factors influence the functioning of the intestines in the pig. This question is being addressed by a total of 15 sub-projects using a multitude of analytical, molecular biology and bioinformatic methods. During the 1. funding period, research efforts are focussed on feed additives, and in particular, on mechanistic studies on the effects of probiotics as well as the trace mineral zinc.
As of 01.01.2010, the Collaborative Research Group 852 will be sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). Principle investigator is the Freie Universität Berlin, Fachbereich Veterinärmedizin. Other participating institutes are the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the Technische Universität Berlin, the Humboldt Universität Berlin, the Deutsche Institut für Ernährungsforschung Potsdam and the Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung Berlin.
